Tax Exempt

At Networking Corner, we provide tax-exempt purchasing options for eligible businesses and organizations in accordance with Maryland state laws. This policy outlines the requirements and process for obtaining tax exemption on your purchases.

Maryland State Tax Exemption

Maryland imposes a 6% state sales tax on most purchases; however, certain entities may qualify for exemptions. If you are eligible, you must provide the appropriate documentation to receive tax-exempt status.

Who Qualifies for Tax Exemption?

  • Nonprofit Organizations: Charitable, religious, and educational institutions registered as nonprofits may qualify for sales tax exemption. A valid Maryland Sales and Use Tax Exemption Certificate is required.
  • Government Entities: Federal, state, and local government agencies are typically exempt from Maryland sales tax on qualifying purchases. Proper identification or documentation must be submitted.
  • Resellers: Businesses purchasing items for resale must provide a valid Maryland Resale Certificate to qualify for tax-exempt transactions.
  • Interstate Exemptions: Maryland does not recognize out-of-state resale certificates. If you are based outside of Maryland but purchasing for resale, please check with your tax professional to determine applicable tax requirements.

Returning Customers

No further action is needed if your tax-exempt status has already been established with us.

Some exemptions require periodic renewal. Please submit updated documents to maintain compliance if your exemption certificate expires or changes.

Multi-Jurisdictional Exemptions

If your organization operates in multiple states, separate documentation for each applicable state must be submitted.

Maryland does not allow tax exemption for out-of-state resale certificates. Any purchases shipped to Maryland will be subject to Maryland’s 6% sales tax unless an approved Maryland exemption applies.
